What is cartridge mechanical seal ?

Cartridge mechanical seal refer to a complete assembly, which are consist of sleeve, gland and seal face.

Typically, all of those mentioned components will be preassembled. You don’t need to adjust compression height of mechanical seal during installation.

What is component seal ?

Component seal refer to seals are consist of seperate rotating seal and stationary seal. It’s different from catridge seal.

During mounting process, component seal require skilled engineer to adjust compression height of spring. Moreover, o ring and seal face mounting position also need to be carefully checked in this case.

What is the difference between cartridge seal and component seal ?

Configuration: Cartridge seals have shaft sleeve, gland and clamp ring, but component seal don’t have.

Installation: Cartridge seals just need to be mounted on shaft and fasten bolts. But component seal have a more complicate installation procedure.

Working pressure: Cartridge seal can work in a high pressure by some special balanced design. But component seal generally work in pressure less than 2.5 mpa.

Medium: Cartridge seal can be used for some dangerous medium, or some complex medium. But component seal can only work in some simple medium like water, oil etc.
