What is mechanical seal ?
Mechanical seals is a device used in rotating equipment. I.E. centrifugal pump, agitator, compressor etc. When above equipment running, there will be a gap between rotating shaft and chamber of equipment. In this way, leakage will happen from gap. So, that’s why preventing devices(mechanical seals) are needed. Mechanical seals are also be named as end seal.

How mechanical seals work ?
The reason of mechanical seals can prevent from leakage is about fluid film.
When mechanical seals running, fluid film was been caused between rotary seal and stationary seal.
Fluid films are able to seperate and lubricate two seal faces. Also, it can decrease abrasion between two seal faces.

Basic structure of mechanical seal
Compression parts
Secondary seal
Driven parts
Sleeve & Gland
Leakge point
Between seal faces
Between rotatry seal and gland
between rotary seal and shaft sleeve;
between gland and pump chamber
between shaft and sleeve.

What is mechanical seal piping plan ?

The purpose of piping plan
1, Creating or improving operation enviroment
To provide good lubrication of seal faces and foster fluid film more stable.
To remove heat from seal face.
To adjust pressure in seal chamber.
To provide clean working fluid
To seperate external effect on seal faces.
2,The method of monitoring and controling leakage
To monitor leakage and condition of running
To move leakge to some collector system.
