What is metal bellow seal ?

The metal bellow seals are consist of metal bellow, which is pushing part of mechanical seal. For other seal, the pushing part is spring.

This metal bellow have function of sealing, transmitting torque and providing elasticity. So, it makes that’s possible not to use slide o ring.

In this case, we just need to set stationary o ring, such as o ring or flexible graphite. By using metal bellow seal plus flexible graphite,

which can make metal bellow seal work in very low temperature and high temperature.

What material will be used for metal bellow seal ?

Bellow: 316L, 17-7PH, Hastelloy alloy C, Inconel-718

Secondary seal: O ring(Type B, only for temperature -40 C°~176 C°), Flexible graphite(Type C, only for temperature -40 C°~400 C°)

Metal body: 304, 316L, Hastelloy alloy C etc.

Where are metal bellow seal used ?

Operation condition: High temperatuer oil series medium, Low temperatuer medium, pressure less than 2 MPA

Pump type: diesel pump, high temperatuer hot oil pump, cryopump etc.

Industry: oil refinery, petrochemical, oil field etc.

What are three types of mechanical seals ?

According to API 682-2014 standard, it was been classified by Type A, type B and type C.

Type A: Spring type pusher seal.

Type B: Metal bellow seal secondary seal with O ring

Type C: Metal bellow seal secondary seal with flexible graphite
